Tech Talk
SUMMER EDITION 2025
Hello and welcome to the summer edition of Tech Talk. Today we are going to be talking about a game called, Prodigy! Prodigy is an educational game where you go on adventures and battle monsters. To attack the monsters you have to answer questions correctly. Your teachers or parents can select the difficulty of the questions, and what type of questions are asked.
The main goal of the game is to collect each of the keystones from each of the islands and defeat the evil Puppet Master to save the land. You can collect pets to help with the battle. You can select Math Mode which is the mode with an adventure with math. English Mode is one where you build a farming world while learning English. You can customize your character, chill with friends or go on adventures.
Hope you have a great time playing Prodigy with your friends this summer!

Welcome to TECH TALK! Today, we are going to talk about MINECRAFT EDUCATION!
Minecraft Education is a TDSB-approved educational and fun game within the Minecraft world! You'll learn about coding through engaging puzzles and activities that are both fun and educational. The TDSB provides free computers to students from Grade 5 up to Grade 12, and it's free to download on those computers. It helps teach collaboration between students, block-based coding, plus even more sophisticated code languages like Python and Java.
In Minecraft Education, you can also learn subjects like math in the library section. You can be creative and design a book cover, and in the build challenges section, there are easy tutorials to help you get familiar with the game in the "How to Play" section. The tutorials are well-guided. Besides those, there are also building tutorials, like how to build a spaceship or even a molecule. You can also play with friends or family.
Thanks for reading this edition of Tech Talk. Bye!

For this edition of the newspaper, we are featuring Scratch. Scratch is a platform where you drag different blocks of code to create games, skits, and more. It is fun, simple, and not too complicated.
Highlights
We interviewed Mr. Bines about Scratch! We asked him some questions, and he said, "I think Scratch is a great program and game for beginners, and a good introduction to programming, coding, and designing." If you’d like to see some of the things you can make on Scratch, We have selected two interesting games for you to search:
"Pancake Clicker" by ssgames001, also known as Sam from room 337. This is a game where you click a pancake and get cool upgrades to boost your pancake production.
"Flappy Meow," is a game similar to Flappy Bird but features the mascot of Scratch, the Scratch Cat! It is made by thomasgames1234, also known as Thomas Neiman from room 337.
We are now going to give you some tips and tricks to unleash your creativity!
Tip #1: You can make an object run in a forever loop by placing the "forever" block around an action. It will never stop until you remove it.
Tip #2: Did you know that you can remix a project? If you click the "remix" button when viewing a project, you can create your own version of that game!
Thank you for reading the Tech Talk for this month's edition of the Withrow Wire!
